BL series are continuing to push the boundaries of mainstream media, and it’s set to take over Netflix next!

Looks like 2021 is starting with a bang for the streaming platform as it announced on Monday that the hit Filipino BL series Gaya sa Pelikula is set to premiere on their site on January 7, 2021. The series, created by writer Juan Miguel Severo and I’m Drunk, I Love You director JP Habac, will also be available to audiences in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the rest of Southeast Asia.

Gaya sa Pelikula explores the budding relationship between architecture student Karl, who, after a series of mishaps rendered him unable to pay his bills, is forced to become housemates with the cocky film student, Vlad, who’s also dealing with his own family troubles.

Last November, Netflix also announced that it has picked up the first-ever Filipino-made BL series, Gameboys. Re-titled as Gameboys: Level-Up Edition, Netflix’s edition will feature never-before-seen footages and reshot scenes from the beloved BL series. The “refreshed” version is set to stream this December 30.
