Francine Diaz, Orange & Lemons’ Clem Castro Make Amends Following Viral Gig Tension

Francine: “Wala ako sa right state of mind. I should’ve acknowledged them”

Francine Diaz and Orange and Lemons vocalist Clem Castro have finally lifted the tension brought about by their apparent misunderstanding at an event in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The two parties have made headlines over the recent week after clips of their mix-up during the Governor and Vice Governor’s night on April 30, 2024 broke across the internet.

Francine allegedly cut in ahead of the Orange & Lemons’ performance—which the band was said to have taken offense from following their comment about respect. Following the commotion, the 20-year-old actress had been criticized—with fans from both sides clashing in defense of their idols.

While tension was evident, Francine, Clem, and some event organizers were reported to have finally made up for their lapses in a dinner meeting held on Friday, May 3, 2024.

More so, Francine, Clem, and organizer of the said event Kylee Dioneda have all graced an interview with ABS-CBN’s MJ Felipe on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Recognizing the weight of his actions, Clem says there was a need to initiate peace-keeping due to how the incident was received by the netizens.

He says, “The night after the show, when we woke up, everything exploded. Gusto kong mag-damage control on the matter, because it’s getting out of hand. It was so fast. Social media was so fast.

“We started to see a lot of hate messages or mentions. It’s a little frustrating and at the same time, stressful. I understand the gravity of the matter, so I asked for an audience, kaso wala na sila Francine lumipad na sila to Manila.”

“So I asked for an audience with the Vice Governor, with the local government, with Kylee to clear the air. We can understand, totally what happened.”

Clem also emphasized that succeeding stories online are fabricated—and what transpired during the event are information that he shared only with those who were present during the incident.

“What you see online, all the videos and the postings, were just mere speculations. There’s no clear representation on what happened online. Kami lang lahat nakakaalam and we discussed it internally.

“We never released any official statement because we didn’t want to fuel the fire. We don’t want more assumptions, more judgements from the masses, music supporters or fans. We don’t want to give more confusions.”

Clem also narrates what happened during their dinner meeting—saying that the incident was mainly from lapses in communication during the event.

He says, “When we started the meeting, of course I apologized for my actions. There was a lapse of judgment on my part because of that miscommunication that Francine’s camp was requesting. But everyone was tired, we were tired. There was pressure.”

“The show was two hours delayed. So, ang bilis ng pangyayari. Magulo backstage. Things got out of hand and out of control. I apologized for my behavior, I explained my side. They explained their side and we found the root cause of the problem—it’s miscommunication,” he adds.

Kylee, the producer and event organizer, has also owed up to her mistake, saying: “Unang-una po sa lahat, humihingi po ako ng pasensya sa mga nangyari. Ito po talaga ay miscommunication lang po lahat, sa dami po ng nangyari that time sa event.”

Francine Diaz apologizes to Clem Castro

As for Francine’s part, she assures that all is finally well between her and the band vocalist.

She says, “Okay na po kami ni Sir Clem, okay naman na po, nagkaayos naman na. Pero nag-sorry din po ako kay Sir Clem, kasi at that time, I wasn’t thinking properly.”

Wala ako sa right state of mind. I should’ve acknowledged them. But because of intimidation, hindi ko po alam yung gagawin ko.

Nag-apologize din po ako kay Sir Clem kasi kahit hindi ko po intention na mag-disrespect, ganun po ang nangyari. Ganun yung naging kalabasan.”

In a seeming display of sincerity, Francine says that the vocalist offered to write a song for her and guide her—should she wish to pursue music in the future.

She says, “He offered po, Sir Clem offered na parang kung meron akong gagawing songs in the future, pwede siyang magsulat for me. At kung meron akong sinusulat, pwede niyang mas ayusin pa yun.

Just as much, Francine reveals having to offer a token of sincerity—saying, “Ako rin po as my peace offering, in-invite ko po siya sa araw na i-sho-show yung first movie namin ni Seth.

Francine is set to banner the upcoming film “My Future You” with her on-screen partner Seth Fedelin. The love team already had their script-reading session, as per the Instagram post published by Star Magic on April 18.
