Get ready for this F2F event, bookworms!
For two years, the Manila International Book Fair had to adapt to the times. It switched from on-site events to online sales due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Everything the fair used to do in person, like discussions and workshops, took place online.
Patrons of the longest-running book fair in the Philippines appreciated the organizers’ effort. But books purchased during the online event took too long to ship out, and the wait was very frustrating.
MIBF goes back to SMX Convention Center
This year, patrons’ frustration levels will be low. With the pandemic easing up, the organizers hope they’ll no longer have to go virtual.
In 2022, the Manila International Book Fair will return to the SMX Convention Center. The organizers announced their plans to hold an in-person event from September 15 to 18. They also released the list of participating companies on Instagram. But they haven’t said anything about event hours and ticket sales yet.
The MIBF is also set to work with School World. Those who join the event will be able to reconnect via words, thanks to School World. There will be book launches, storytelling sessions, and training opportunities.
About the Manila International Book Fair
The Manila International Book Fair is one of the largest book fairs in the Philippines. It is also the longest-running one since it has been going on for 43 years to date.
The MIBF first went virtual in August 2020. It held another online edition in November 2021. The last in-person edition took place in September 2019. More than 200 local and foreign booksellers and publishers were there. They were all spread out across 450 booths.
This year, book lovers of all stripes will be able to come together in person again. Isn’t that great, bookworms?
