Gigi de Lana promised her supporters that she will come back stronger
Singer Gigi De Lana figured into a series of unfortunate events last May 14, 2023, which started when she and her band, Gigi Vibes go into a road accident in La Union.
While she immediately released a statement after, Gigi went into detail during an interview for “Julius and Tintin” on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
She admitted that their driver had fallen asleep while on their way to the “Himala Sa Buhangin Event” in Ilocos Norte.
“Ang nasa unahan po, si MJ (assistant), si Jon (musical director) at si Josh (driver)—kausap pa po nila si Josh. Habang kausap nila si Josh, kumakanta pa, a few seconds later parang nakaidlip,” she shared.
Thankfully though, Gigi and her team did not sustain severe injuries.
“Marami pong bruises pero safe naman po lahat ng x-ray at yung CT scan. Wala naman pong na-detect na anything,” she explained.
“‘Yung left side ng body ko bugbog po talaga. Nakahiga po kasi ako nung nangyari ‘yung accident kaya tumilapon po ako sa driver’s seat.”
She even shared that her assistant initially thought that they were just going to park and rest a bit since they came from a prior event in Aurora.
“Hindi alam noong assistant namin na nakaidlip kasi wala po talaga kaming kasalubong na sasakyan at all.
“Akala niya itatabi lang ‘yung sasakyan, magpapahinga, pero hindi po tumitigil ‘yung van, so, sumigaw na po si MJ,” she continued.
“Nakapagpreno naman po si Josh kahit papaano tapos nabangga po namin ‘yung truck.”

To ensure that they are in good shape, Gigi and her bandmates had themselves checked by a doctor before they decided to continue their scheduled show.
While the result turned out to be positive, Gigi faced another unfortunate incident while performing.
Videos of her seemingly fainting onstage spread online just hours after her road mishap.
To clarify this, Gigi explained during the interview that she suddenly felt dizzy, and experienced heartburn, and palpitations while performing on stage.
“Para [akong] magba-black out. Hindi naman po ako totally nahimatay, talaga pong nahilo na lang [at] naramdaman ko ‘yung sakit tapos hindi ko po ma-control ‘yung boses ko,” she recalled.
The young singer is currently recovering from the said accident, which eventually coincided with her two-month break to treat her throat nodules.
“Maraming salamat sa inyo sa suporta at hintayin niyo lang ako. Magpapagaling ako and babalik ako nang mas malakas at mas healthy,” she ended.
Gigi’s singing career began as a finalist on “It’s Showtime” segment “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in 2016. But she eventually rose to fame following her viral cover of the hit Roselle Nava hit “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita?”
