More casual, less formal.
Newscasters Migs Bustos and Gretchen Fullido may be known for delivering daily news, but this time, they’re loosening up and showing a new side of their hosting skills on PIE Channel.
Gretchen, who’s been a Star Patroller on TV Patrol for over a decade, is happy to be a part of Barangay PIEsilog. She’s glad to have a place where she can be her normal “bubbly” self.
“First time kong mapasama sa isang show na ganito. From TV Patrol where you can see na medyo seryoso ako, dito, nakakatawa ako with my KatroPIEs,” says Gretchen. “Masaya kami dito. Kumakanta at sumasayaw ako minsan. But very proud ako sa Barangay PIEsilog because ang hatid namin ay practical public service. Yung mga valid feelings niyo po ay nilalabas niyo sa Sumpungan HQ,” she adds.
Gretchen also admitted that hosting PIE Channel‘s new segments made her feel more at ease.
“Sa November kasi mag tu-twelve years na ako as a Star Patroller, pero hindi ko talaga nailalabas ang real self ko doon. Mabungisngis talaga akong tao. Dito sa PIE, instantly lumalabas yun. Lalo na pag kasama ko sina Abby, Mayor TV, si Mayora, and si Tristan. Even nung first time namin mag-script reading, automatic siya. Sabi ko ‘I feel at home’ talaga, na yung real self ko lumabas.”
Despite that, Gretchen’s still adjusting to it.
“So sa TV Patrol, they tell me na ‘wag maging galawgaw. Dito naman sa Barangay PIEsilog, sinasabi nila sa akin na gumalaw-galaw naman ako kasi nag-a-adjust pa ako. Hinahanap ko pa yung timpla. Kasi sa ‘Patrol’ daw stiff ako, pero dito naman ang likot ko.”

On the other hand, news reporter Migs echoed Gretchen’s sentiments about showing a new side of himself when hosting PIE Channel’s Barangay PIEsilog.
“Siguro mas casual compared to the news style. Ang news style kasi is medyo formal. Dito, ang kailangan is maging mas engaging to the audience, mas friendly,” says Migs. “I guess it encouraged us to loosen up more, to be able to, you know, really connect with our audience.”
He also commented on how the fast-paced digital world changed the television scene. “Siguro sa hosting style, kasi nag-a-adapt tayo sa mundo ngayon ng content creation, ng digital na kailangan up-to-date, kailangan nakikipagusap ka.”
Gretchen adds, “The difference between traditional TV and this is ang bilis ng interaction ngayon. Doon sa mga interactive polls, yung mga sagot ng mga katroPIE natin, nakikita mo.”

Migs, Madam Inutz, and Nicole Cordovez will join the katroPIEs every Sunday on Barangay Piesilog from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
