The Hamilton revolution is finally coming to the country in September!
The Hamilton Asian premiere is finally happening in the Philippines!
The hit Broadway musical is set to come to the country in September, producers announced on March 28, 2023.
For years, Hamilfans have been eagerly petitioning for the show to come to the country. Finally, their efforts (and prayers!) have paid off as the show will finally make an Asian tour.
In anticipation of the sky-high demand to see the show, the show runners have already opened a waiting list for the tickets, which will go on sale on April 24, 2023 through TicketWorld. The waitlist can be found at www.gmg-productions.com/hamilton and hamiltonmusical.com/international-tour.
The highly-acclaimed musical–which has won Tony, Grammy, and Olivier awards, and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama–will have a limited run at The Theatre at Solaire in Paranaque this September.
Speculations about the show’s run in the country started stirring on Monday, March 27, 2023, after “Hamilton’s” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda sent a “brief message” to Filipinos.
Hamilton International Tour
This particular production of “Hamilton” premiered in Sydney, Australia in March 2021, with subsequent performances in Melbourne and Brisbane. The international tour, however, will start in Auckland, New Zealand in May. The production will then travel to the Philippines for its Asian premiere with performers drawn from all over the world.
Miranda acknowledged that a number of Filipinos have been part of the “Hamilton pamilya” around the world, most well-known among them being Marc dela Cruz, Karla Puno Garcia, and Christina Glur on Broadway, and Rachelle Anne Go and Christine Allado at London’s West End.
Miranda wrote the book, music, and lyrics of “Hamilton” with a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway. The show tells the story of one of America’s founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton, based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography.
The musical premiered on Broadway in August 2015 to wide critical and audience acclaim.
The international tour is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, The Public Theater and Michael Cassel. The Manila season is presented by GMG Productions.
