Which of the original cast are you most excited to see again?
Heads up, Potterheads! It looks like we will see our favorite wizards back on the big screen. Warner Bros. is looking into producing “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” with the original cast.
It has been more than a decade since the final “Harry Potter” film, “Deathly Hallows Part 2.” Since then, Warner Bros. released three “Fantastic Beasts” prequels by JK Rowling as part of a five-part spin-off trilogy. However, the latest release had an underwhelming box office performance.
A source reportedly said, “Warner Bros. are currently looking at how to bring ‘The Cursed Child’ to the big screen.”
“Harry Potter And The Cursed Child” has been successful as a play and Warner Bros. plans to take advantage of this.
For the uninitiated, “The Cursed Child” is one of the original “Harry Potter” books JK Rowling wrote. The plot picks up 19 years after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” It follows Harry Potter as the Head of the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Magical Law Enforcement. His son, Albus Severus Potter, prepares to begin his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“It has been in their sights since the play proved to be so popular in the West End. It went onto the backburner for a while because there was so much work going on with the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise,” the source claimed.
The project is in its “formative stage.” People behind the scenes are still plotting “the next steps to move it forward,” according to the source. Yet, rumors suggest the plan to bring back the “Harry Potter” franchise’s original cast.
While Warner Bros. has not confirmed anything, the idea of another “Harry Potter” film isn’t too bad. An on-screen adaptation of “The Cursed Child” with the original cast will definitely bring in the dough!
