How to be a fashion influencer? Heart says, “Through doing what you truly love”
Actresses who are turning into influencers have become more and more common for us to see. With their popularity among followers, it can be easy to build their name beyond onscreen projects, as we have witnessed with Heart Evangelista who is now a luxury fashion influencer locally and internationally.
Last May 12, in an interview at GMA-7’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the Kapuso actress revealed what the job of a fashion influencer means.
“You work with different brands and they also tap you to promote the latest bags, shoes. It depends with your rank if you are just for social media or they invite you to shows, if you’re in front row.”

For Heart, it is the best of both worlds–her Instagram and YouTube accounts are filled with brand deals and endorsements, and she also gets invited to fashion shows abroad.
But her flourishing career simply began as she embraced the true desires of her heart.
“Six, seven years ago where I felt like I didn’t have any more opportunities, I was tired with playing a character, I didn’t know what to do, I was bored with my life, I started to paint.”
Through painting and seeing the different colors of life, she became inspired to stop conforming with the expectations placed on her.
“I just wanted to be myself. Ever since before, kikay ako, mahilig ako magbihis and I started to get into fashion,” she added.

With this, opportunities for Heart started coming in and helped kickstart a career that was beyond acting in front of the camera.
“I was invited to attend one of the first shows of Schiaparelli when they opened up again, and because of that I have had the privilege of being seated by certain people.”
Over the past years, Heart received invitations from luxury brands to attend different fashion shows in Europe. Although she was not always seated in the front row, she always found herself being “in the right place at the right time” to meet people who would be valuable to her career.
Back in 2018, the Kapuso actress was featured in Harper’s Bazaar as one of the real-life crazy rich Asians making their names in couture fashion shows at Paris. This was based on the film adaptation of the novel “Crazy Rich Asians” written by Kevin Kwan.
Although she didn’t see herself similar to the crazy rich Asians in the film when Kevin initially invited her to be part of the feature, her inclusion in the video played a big part in launching her in the international scene.
Aside from this, Kevin’s invite also helped her during a tough time. After losing her twins from miscarriage in the same year, she struggled with the question of “What’s next?” and the feature became a nice opportunity to answer this.
Despite already making a name in the international fashion community, Evangelista remains humble about it. For her, it was simply the love that she poured into the things she does that led her to where she is now.
“May nararating talaga if you really love something, no matter how weird, or unique, or whatever. If it’s something you love and if you’re authentic about it, you will get somewhere.”
