Hunter x Hunter fans rejoice! The classic shounen manga is back. Its author Yoshihiro Togashi joined Twitter to tease his creation’s return.
Seventy-two hours later, Togashi is Twitter’s most-followed mangaka with 2.2 million followers. His account’s rapid growth shows how excited people are for Hunter x Hunter’s comeback.
Togashi says he has drafted 10 chapters. The number six in his original tweet indicates he has finalized six. Since then, he has finalized one more chapter, bringing the current total to 7.
The Hunter x Hunter manga’s hiatuses
Hunter × Hunter (pronounced “hunter hunter”) focuses on Gon Freecss. He discovers that his father, who left him at a young age, is a world-renowned Hunter. Hunters specialize in fantastical pursuits like crimefighting, exploring, and treasure hunting. Gon then decides to become a Hunter and find his father.
The manga went on hiatus in September 2017 and resumed in January 2018. It went on a second hiatus four months later, only to return in September. This latest hiatus began in November 2018.
Hunter × Hunter is a huge critical and financial success. It has sold over 79 million copies as of November 2021. Viz Media then translated it into English and sold it in North America.
Hunter × Hunter became a 62-episode anime by Nippon Animation. It ran from October 1999 to March 2001. A second anime by Madhouse ran from October 2011 to September 2014. Both series have been licensed by Viz Media.
As of this writing, there have been no announcements about an adaptation of the new chapters. Stay tuned for updates!
