The life-long role of being a mother is her biggest one yet
Being a mother is not an easy task, and first-time mom Iza Calzado attests to this.
In an Instagram post, the actress shared a barefaced photo of her carrying daughter Deia Amihan in her arms.
“This photo was taken a few days after giving birth, right after I cried so hard from a few ‘failures’ I felt I had as a new mother mixed with the deep love I was feeling for my child, the kind I have never felt for anyone before,” Calzado states in the caption.
In the lengthy caption, Iza Calzado has expressed a bit about her struggles throughout the nine-week postpartum period especially during the first few days and weeks.
She emphasizes, “Hindi siya madali. I am still recovering from it all but every day gets better and better.”
Despite the difficulties that come with the title of a mother, the 40-year-old actress considers her beginning of motherhood as “the most challenging yet fulfilling journey” she has been on.
Although this journey has been quite a ride so far, Iza Calzado draws strength from the outpour of support given to her family by their loved ones.
“I find myself navigating this transition in the best way I know how—with faith, compassion, gratitude and love knowing I am divinely guided and supported,” she says.
Towards the end of the post, Calzado also expresses her gratitude to God for the gift of being blessed with a daughter and for evolving into an imperfectly perfect mother to her.
After giving birth on January 26, 2023, Calzado has only shared a few details about it with the public in March as they wanted to savor the moment and wait for “when the time is right.”
Deia is Calzado and husband Ben Wintle’s first child, five years since they tied the knot in 2018.
