Jodi Sta. Maria admits excitement over setting foot at GMA Network for the first time
For Jodi Sta. Maria, her latest project is “the end of rivalry.”
The ABS-CBN actress is currently headlining “Unbreak My Heart,” the first collaboration of rival networks ABS-CBN and GMA-7 for a teleserye.
The show is produced by Dreamscape Entertainment, a content-providing unit under ABS-CBN Entertainment, with GMA-7 as its free TV platform and Viu on digital streaming.
The lead stars of “Unbreak My Heart” with Jodi are Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia and Kapuso artists Richard Yap and Gabbi Garcia.

During the press conference of “Unbreak My Heart” on May 25, FreebieMNL asked Jodi about her experience in the collaboration.
Jodi says, “Many years ago po kasi, no one thought—not even in their wildest dreams—that this moment will be possible. Before kasi, ABS-CBN and GMA are rivals, competitors for ratings, for audience shares.
“But now, nagbago yun. We are no longer rivals but we are here today as collaborators and partners with goals and that is to provide more opportunities for the people in the industry that we have grown to love and to give our audience, to provide them with quality entertainment.
“So, I feel grateful, honored, and blessed to be part of this project, and I would like to thank everyone who made this beautiful impossibility possible, to ABS-CBN and GMA and, of course, to Viu who will provide us with a streaming platform, strengthening and showcasing Filipino talent worldwide.”
Ultimately, Jodi is happy that for ABS-CBN and GMA-7, “It’s the end of rivalry.”
She expounds, “Now, we can share our talents and everyone is just given the opportunity to work.
“I’ve said na it’s more job opportunities for this industry and I think, bukod din po sa aming mga artista and mga tao na parte ng industriya, siyempre, ang pinaka magbe-benefit sa napakagandang partnership na ito ay ang ating mga manunuod.”
Jodi on “All-Out Sundays”
Jodi is also happy that, for the first time, she was able to set foot at the GMA Network building.
It was when they did a number to promote “Unbreak My Heart” on “All-Out Sundays.”
She says about this, “I would always see lang naman GMA from the outside, yung facade lang yung lagi ko nakikita.
“I’ve always wondered, ‘Ano kaya yung nasa loob ng studio nila or noong building na yun? Meron din ba kaya silang offices? Meron din ba kaya silang mga studios?’ Ganyan.
“So, when we were told that we were going to promote ‘Unbreak My Heart’ on ‘All-Out Sundays,’ I’m like, ‘Where?’
“And then they said sa GMA. ‘Ha? Tatapak kami sa GMA!’
“So, honestly, talagang yung unang sampa ko doon, ang suryal ng feeling and I just felt goosebumps all over my body.
“Parang siguro, doon lang din talagang nag-sink in na OMG, this is really happening.”
“Unbreak My Heart” currently airs on GMA Telebabad at 9:35PM and on Gtv at 11:25PM.
