Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga reunite after nine years
Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga headline the new movie of VIVA Films entitled “Will You Be My Ex?”
Barretto and Loyzaga attended the story conference of the movie on February 5, where they also faced the press after their meeting.
The movie is all about Chris (Barretto), a free-spirited and fun-loving woman from a family of artists. She later meets Joey (Loyzaga), a quiet, formal young man from a well-respected family. The two fall in love and become college sweethearts.
However, the sweet start of their love story ends when they are given problems too hard to resolve, eventually leading to their breakup. Years later, they meet again and old feelings are rekindled. However, their current lives might just hinder their supposed sweet reunion.
The movie, which is a co-production of VIVA Films and Firestarters Productions, is directed by Real Florido. Bea Binene, Mickey Ferriols, Divine Aucina, and Juan Carlos Galano join the cast of the movie.
Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga’s reunion
This serves as the reunion for Barretto and Loyzaga and, finally, a new chance for their pairing. The two were first paired in an episode of “Wansapanataym” in 2013 as a screen test for their supposed show, “Mirabella.”
However, when “Mirabella” aired in 2014, Loyzaga played a supporting role while Barretto’s love team was Enrique Gil.
During the press conference, Barretto expressed excitement over working again with Loyzaga. She says, “I’m so excited to work with Diegs because he’s been a friend of mine for a very long time and yeah, apparently, we’ve worked together twice now, but I’m excited to be working with him this time around and we’re a bit older now. I hope we’re a bit more mature now. This is a very interesting story and I just can’t wait to get on the set and just be in a vulnerable state with Diegs and be able to open up to each other.”
The two have done their look test and have also started shooting for the movie in early February.
Bea Binene excited to work for the film
New VIVA artist Bea Binene also joins the film as Barretto and Loyzaga’s third wheel.
This will be the first time that Binene will work together with Loyzaga and Barretto, given that they used to belong to rival networks. Binene was with GMA Network while Loyzaga and Barretto used to be ABS-CBN talents.
During the press conference, FreebieMNL asked Binene about working with artists that seemed impossible to happen years back.
She answers, “I’m very excited na ngayon, since I’m with VIVA already, noong interview ko noong signing ko, sabi ko nga na I’m sure, this will really open up a new world for me na talagang mas mawa-widen pa yung reach ko, mas marami pa akong puwedeng gawin, mas marami pa akong puwedeng makatrabaho, and isa [ito sa] project na [yun].”
Binene also reiterates that being part of VIVA means that there are no network wars involved. “Dito, wala rin namang kahit anong network, kami sa VIVA, it’s safe to say na isang pamilya kami dito and I’m just really looking forward to work with everyone, not just with Julia and Diego. Of course, I’m very excited to work with them, but the whole production, Direk, everyone, I’m really really just looking forward.”
VIVA Films will show “Will You Be My Ex?” in cinemas, but a showing date has yet to be announced.
