Since Keeping Up with the Kardashians first aired in 2007, Kendall Jenner has been in the spotlight alongside her super famous family. From a pretty reality TV star, she’s become one of the most in-demand fashion models in the world, starring in campaigns for renowned brands like Calvin Klein, Stuart Weitzman and Chanel. She’s also one of the biggest celebrities on social media, with 163 million followers on Instagram, 31 million followers on Twitter, and 22 million followers on Facebook.
Stunning, young, rich and famous, Jenner seems to have it all. That’s why a lot of people were surprised when she opened up that she actually struggled with social anxiety.
“I have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks since I was a little girl. I wanted to dive deeper to better understand what I was feeling but more so, to share this information with others who may struggle too,” she shared on Instagram.
To destigmatize mental health issues such as social anxiety, Jenner has partnered with Vogue Magazine for a four-part video series called Open Minded, where she sits down with various experts to delve into the struggles and ways to better manage one’s mental health problems.
Considering how extremely blessed Jenner is, some people might question her credibility to talk about mental health issues. “There [are] going to be those people that say, ‘What does she have to worry about? What does she have to be anxious about?’ And I’ll never sit here and say I’m not fortunate…[but] I’m still a human being at the end of the day. And no matter what someone has or doesn’t have, it doesn’t mean they don’t have real-life feelings and emotions,” she explained.
While to a lot of people, Kendall may be #goals, it’s nice to know she’s just like everyone of us. She has her mental health struggles, too. It just so happens she’s a mega-famous celebrity who gets to talk about it with the biggest fashion magazine in the world. Touché!
