If you love Filipino komiks, you’ll want to hear this.
Komiket, the Filipino komiks and art market, has partnered up with kumu to empower the Pinoy komiks community on a global level.
Seven years ago, Komiket was launched to discover and nurture new talent, give creators a platform to showcase their work, and help introduce Filipino komiks to the rest of the world through the Philippine International Comics Festival (PICOF).
This tie-up with kumu is the latest in Komiket’s efforts to grow the Pinoy komiks community. Together, they’ll be giving away P500,000 worth of awards and publishing deals to creators.
All creators included in the Children’s Books, Darkness (Horror), Kilig (Romance), Rurok (Erotica), Thirsty (Boys Love), and South East Asia Kommunity anthologies published by Komiket in 2022 will be eligible. The top prize is P150,000 in cash and a publishing deal with Komiket for the Komiket Awards and Kumu Kumunity’s Choice winners.
Through this partnership with kumu, Komiket will bring the Pinoy komiks community together no matter where they are in the world. Komiket’s artists can easily share their work with the kumunity. They’ll also be able to connect with young individuals with aspirations to become comic artists and give them what they need to make their dreams come true.
Meanwhile, enthusiasts can interact with their favorite creators, and conversations on comics–from lighthearted ones to more serious discussions–will have a space of their own.
This is just the beginning of a promising partnership between two organizations, both of whom aim to uplift Filipino komiks creators and readers.
Follow kumu on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and their official blog for more updates. If you don’t have the kumu app yet, you can get it from the App Store or Google Play.
