Kristel Fulgar thriving in Korea, “levels up” with “Big Boss”

Kristel Fulgar talks more about her bond with Face Republic CEO Yohan Kim and Korean life!

Singer-actress Kristel Fulgar moved to Korea in September 2022. While it wasn’t a major surprise, it did bring huge joy to her followers. This is especially because of her longtime bond with Face Republic CEO Yohan Kim. The fans gave him a moniker that was picked up and carried over the years: “Big Boss.”

Fulgar met Kim in 2018 during her first-ever trip to South Korea. Their friendship has carried over for years. He was also featured quite often on her YouTube channel.

Kristel Fulgar celebrates with Big Boss

During a recent interview with PEP.ph, Fulgar opens up about her life in Korea now. One particular segment brought the kilig: they pull up a photo of hers with Big Boss on Instagram which had the caption: “Finally got to celebrate your birthday in person…”

In response, Fulgar shares that she had been waiting to take that photo for a long time. “Itong photo na ito, actually, ang tagal kong hinintay kasi, lahat… parang nung last two birthdays ni Big Boss, hindi kami magkasama,” she explains.

Kaya itong birthday niya, talagang sobrang special kasi nagkaroon kami ng time para i-celebrate yung birthday niya together.”

She quickly adds that they didn’t celebrate alone because Big Boss’ employees were with them.

Nung time na yun, hindi naman kaming dalawa lang. Kasama yung Face Republic team, nag-team building sila. Nilipad niya yung [mga employees] niya dito sa Korea.” Prior to that, she’d only see them on Zoom.

Years ago, Kristel told PEP.ph that they were just friends. Asked again this year, she has this to say: “Trust, respect and everything, masasabi ko nag-level up talaga.” (The trust, respect, everything-it’s leveled up.) Aside from her mom, she respects and trusts Big Boss the most out of everyone in her life.

Since she has no family in Korea, Big Boss also been acting as her guardian. No matter how busy he is, she added, he finds time to do groceries with her and checks on her all the time. He also helped her with enrolment and her work visa.

Work-Life Balance

Aside from spending time with “Big Boss,” Kristel is also signed with Five Stones Entertainment. While she’s still represented in the Philippines by NYMA, she’s able to work in Korea thanks to Five Stones. Even this was a “gift” from Big Boss-the company’s CEO is a friend of his. He’s been encouraging her to try her luck in the Korean showbiz scene for quite some time.

Last month, December 2022, she started studying at Sogang University. At present she’s taking a Korean language course which will only take a matter of months.
