Now, this is a ‘Bad Romance’!
Pop icon Lady Gaga is in talks to star in Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel. The film follows the events of the first installment, tackling the story of Arthur Fleck. As those who watched it know, he ends up in a dark place due to the madness of Gotham City. The film traces his transformation into the city’s most famous villain, the Joker.
Joker went on to earn over $1 billion at the box office and became an Oscar-winning film by the end of 2019.
Earlier this month, director Todd Phillips revealed the title for its sequel. The title alludes to a medical disorder that two or more individuals share. Because of this, many believe that Harley Quinn, Joker’s lover, would appear in the sequel. It looks like Warner Bros. is eyeing Lady Gaga for the role.
The studio is keeping a tight lid on any information about the film. But here’s what we do know: Harley Quinn is best known for her toxic relationship with the clown prince of crime. Dr. Harleen Quinzel is one of the best psychologists who turned into someone who needs one.
Margot Robbie played the character in Suicide Squad and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. The actress’s portrayal of the character was well-received by fans. If ever Gaga seals the deal, her version of Harley Quinn will be different from Margot’s. We’re confident in saying this because sources say the sequel will be a musical.
The approach to the film may feel a bit uncanny to some. Still, we have to wait for further details before jumping to conclusions about the film. We should trust Todd Phillips to deliver because he is also co-writing the sequel.
