Liza Soberano Reveals “Hello, Love, Goodbye” Was First Offered To LizQuen

“I asked them to save the project for me and Quen”

Liza Soberano reveals that she and Enrique Gil were first offered the lead roles to Star Cinema’s top-grossing movie, “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

Everyone knows that the project headlined Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. Their team-up made a milestone as both were A-listers from rivaling networks: ABS-CBN and GMA Network.

In a lie-detector test interview for Bea Alonzo’s vlog, Alonzo asked Soberano if she felt “boxed” being in a love team in her career.

She honestly answers, “At that time, when I was in a love team, hindi ko naisip na problema siya.”

Soberano then brings up that she and Gil got the offer to do “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” She says, “I wanted to do that movie so bad but then they were like, ‘There’s another project lined up for the both of you.’”

But suddenly, Soberano found out that the project was offered to Bernardo and Gil. Soberano admits, “That scared the sh*t out of me. I was like, ‘Why did they do that? I asked them to save the project for me and Quen.’ Parang, ‘Please wait for us.’ Because they told us noong pinitch sa amin na hindi pwedeng gawin kaagad kasi they have to develop it more. So I was like, ‘Okay, we’ll wait for it. Please hold it for us.’ And then, nalaman ko na lang bigla na they were offering it to Quen still but with Kathryn.”

The Careless Music talent tells Alonzo that, at the time, she did not want to be separated from Gil yet. “For me, I didn’t want to do that to the fans, but also Quen was my comfort zone.”

However, this made her realize how she limited her career because of being part of a love team. She admits, “I realized, ‘Oh my God, ang dami kong hindi nagawa sa career ko.’ And that’s why everybody takes for granted my talent or acting capabilities because they have only seen me in a love team.”

Actors considered for “Hello, Love, Goodbye”

Both Bernardo and Richards were not the first choice to do their respective roles in “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

Former Star Cinema managing director Olivia Lamasan revealed this in her interview in “Toni Talks.” Aside from Soberano and Gil, Bernardo’s perennial on-screen partner Daniel Padilla was also considered for the lead role.

She said, “Originally, LizQuen iyan, e, and then it became Kathryn-DJ, and then, Kathryn-Alden.”

According to Lamasan, Soberano was still in the “Darna” movie when they were creating “Hello, Love, Goodbye.”

Padilla, in a separate interview, said that he turned down the role because, at the time, he and Bernardo wanted to focus on their separate projects.
