Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Devi Vishwakumar in “Never Have I Ever“) is set to star in another Netflix project! This time, she will be starring in a romantic-comedy movie entitled “The Netherfield Girls” based on the novel “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.
This project marks Maitreyi’s first-ever movie role, since her only professional acting experience so far is for the coming-of-age series “Never Have I Ever.”
“Couldn’t ask for a better first feature-film,” she said. “Time to do Jane Austen proud.”
Maitreyi, who will play the role of “Lizzie Bennet,” announced the news on her Instagram account: “I had to keep this secret for so long but HERE YOU GO!!!! AAAA I’m so excited. [Becca Gleason] is such a homie to me already.”
“The Netherfield Girls” will be directed by Becca Gleason, who also wrote the original script for the movie. (Becca is also a consulting producer for “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series based on Jenny Han‘s books!)
“Netherfield Park is let at last… So happy I’m finally able to share this news! [Maitreyi Ramakrishnan] is a comedic genius and I can’t wait for you all to see her as our Lizzie,” Becca said.
Since “The Netherfield Girls” has no release date yet, Maitreyi’s fans can watch her in the “Never Have I Ever” series on Netflix for now.
