MCU Phase 4 Arcs That Seem to Be Setting Up a Young Avengers Project

If you’ve been following WandaVision, you’ll notice that it seems to be hinting at several elements from the comics that Marvel may be planning to bring into the cinematic universe. One of which is a fan favorite superhero group: the Young Avengers, a team of adolescent superheroes who all have some sort of connection with the original Avengers team.

With the Avengers movies concluding with Endgame, it seems fitting for the MCU to introduce these young heroes next. However, WandaVision isn’t the only thing that seems to be setting this up. Here are the Phase 4 projects that could be doing so:

WandaVision: Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd

Billy and Tommy are the most obvious reasons to believe that a Young Avengers project could be part of MCU’s plans. In the show, they are already seen inheriting their parents’ powers as they do in the comics. Billy grows up to be a superhero called Wiccan while Tommy is called Speed. Their Young Avengers costumes even get referenced in the show!

Hawkeye: Kate Bishop

Another promising hint that Young Avengers could be in the works is the fact that they’re bringing Kate Bishop into the MCU with the upcoming Hawkeye show on Disney+. In the comics, Kate Bishop takes on the mantle of Hawkeye after Clint Barton’s death, not knowing that he was resurrected, as she joins the Young Avengers.

Ant-Man 3: Cassie Lang

In the first two Ant-Man movies, Cassie, Scott Lang’s daughter, has expressed admiration for her father and her own desire to be a hero too. Now that she’ll be a teenager in Phase 4, the next Ant-Man movie may build towards Cassie becoming the superhero Stature and joining the Young Avengers. Cassie was also recently recast, with the role going to Kathryn Newton who looks perfect for the role.

Ant-Man 3: Nathaniel Richards

The confirmed villain for Ant-Man 3 is Kang the Conqueror. In the comics, Kang the Conqueror time travels and meets his younger self, Nathaniel Richards. Horrified upon learning that he becomes a villain, Nathaniel escapes Kang and ends up in modern times where he forms the Young Avengers as Iron Lad.

Loki: Kid Loki

The upcoming Loki series is gonna follow the trickster god’s adventures through different timelines in the multiverse. This seems like it could be the perfect opportunity for the MCU to explore different versions of Loki, including Kid Loki, who’s a big part of the Young Avengers arc.

Falcon and Winter Soldier: Eli Bradley

This one is less official since it’s only based on casting rumors and leaks, but it would make sense if they introduce Eli Bradley in this show. Eli’s grandfather is the first Black Captain America, but Eli didn’t inherit superhuman abilities and instead used illegal means to get them. Introducing a hero who wants to be part of the legacy of Captain Americas – a legacy Sam Wilson is now a part of – and who wears a costume similar to Bucky Barnes in this show would be a great way to incorporate him into the MCU.
