If you love listening to the likes of Joji, NIKI, Rich Brian, and Higher Brothers, then you’d want to listen to this: 88rising, the record label that elevated the aforementioned talents to greater exposure in the West, has teamed up with Philippine telco giant Globe to launch a local version named PARADISE RISING, a “new music collective representing the next wave of artists in the Philippines.”

To commemorate its founding last July 31, the new label released its first mixtape titled “semilucent” as a testament to the label’s objective: to produce a fusion of emerging talent from the Philippines and propel them straight to the global stage. The mixtape combines the voices of local musicians Jason Dhakal, Leila Alcasid, Massiah, Fern., and Kiana V.

“The Philippines and music go hand in hand, and there is such a vibrancy in the way talented young artists are emerging, and such a massive audience in love with music. We want to support their voices, help them be heard, and bring music from the Philippines to a global audience.“ said 88Rising founder Sean Miyashiro in a press interview.

Fans of this fusion of genre can expect to hear more from the “rising” label as they take strides in producing more music, managing more talent, and developing more homegrown musical gifts to be worthy of a global audience.
