Archewell Productions, a company founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is set to produce an animated series with the working title “Pearl.” This will be the second project made by the company in partnership with the streaming giant Netflix.
The show will follow the adventures of a 12-year-old girl named Pearl, who looks up to various influential women from history. “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” Meghan said in a statement.
The Duchess of Sussex will serve as an executive producer for the show, alongside David Furnish, Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, and Amanda Rynda.
“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history,” Meghan added.
Another collaborative project from Archewell Productions and Netflix is “Heart of Invictus,” a docu-series that will center on the stories of “Invictus Games The Hague 2020” competitors. The event, initially set to happen in 2020, was moved to 2022 due to the pandemic.
“Since the very first Invictus Games back in 2014, we knew that each competitor would contribute in their own exceptional way to a mosaic of resilience, determination, and resolve. This series will give communities around the world a window into the moving and uplifting stories of these competitors on their path to the Netherlands next year,” Prince Harry said.
“As Archewell Productions’ first series with Netflix, in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, I couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead or prouder of the Invictus community for continuously inspiring global healing, human potential and continued service.”
Prince Harry, who founded both the Invictus Games and the Invictus Games Foundation, will also serve as an executive producer for the show.
