Mika Dela Cruz’s Wedding Brings Back “Kara Mia” Memes With Barbie Forteza

Netizens quip that it’s a double wedding for Kara and Mia!

Mika Dela Cruz and Barbie Forteza have caused quite a good laugh over the weekend as netizens brought back their “Kara Mia” character following Mika’s wedding with Nash Aguas.

Mika and Barbie bannered GMA-7’s “Kara Mia” in 2019, which revolves around a conflicted narrative of two sisters, Kara and Mia, who share a single body but have different dispositions and attitudes.

Five years since, it seems that netizens cannot get enough of the iconic duo as they tried to associate the series to Mika and Nash’s wedding.

On X (formerly Twitter), many have offered Mika well wishes and congratulations. But what made the event funny was that netizens were also congratulating Barbie in reference to their conjoined characters from the series.

Photos of Mika in her wedding dress, next to Nash, were then edited with Barbie’s face at the back of her head—attached to captions that read, “Congrats Nash Aguas, Mika Dela Cruz, and Barbie Forteza.”

Even Mika’s older sister, Angelika Dela Cruz, found humor in the sudden revival of their characters—sharing on Instagram one of the memes edited by netizens.

It comes with a caption that reads, “Internet wins 2024 na #karamia parin [laughing emojis] @mikadlacruz @zackwey @barbaraforteza #nashakanyanasimika.” In a separate Instagram story of the same photo, Angelika writes, “d ko kinaya ang picture na to huy.”

Mika and Nash tied the knot in Tagaytay on Saturday, May 19, 2024—as shared by the actress herself on her Instagram account. She writes, “Walking towards my God-sent, my Love, and my forever,” with a hashtag that reads, #NASHakanyanasiMIKA.

The couple has publicized their romance in 2018, but a report from GMA Entertainment says that their love affair started when they both bannered the 2007 horror film “Tiyanaks.” They first worked together in the now-defunct ABS-CBN kid show, “Goin Bulilit” in 2005.

The wedding has surprised most of the people—with some netizens speculating that the relatively early marriage between them hints that Mika might be pregnant. However, such is not the case, according to Angelika.

Sharing a misleading post on Facebook about her sister’s alleged pregnancy, Angelika writes, “My sister is not pregnant po please make sure na totoo bago po kayo mag-post.”

Angelika then quips, “How I wish totoo… Mika Dela Cruz pls baby girl ah. Wala pa tayo babae sa family [laughing emoji] hehehe.”

Prior to this, Angelika has expressed her full support and fondness to the newly-wed through a simple “I love you both” caption she uploaded during the wedding.
