2022 Golden Globe Awards To Be Held As A Private Event

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced that the Golden Globe Awards will not be televised or live-streamed this year.

“This year’s event is going to be a private event and will not be live-streamed. We will be providing real-time updates on winners on the Golden Globes website and our social media,” a representative posted on the Golden Globe Awards’ Twitter page.

Previous editions of the awards show were aired on the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) but the American network announced as early as May 2021 that they will boycott the 2022 ceremony. This came after the HFPA received criticism for its lack of diversity and inclusion.

“We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right,” the network said in a statement.

“As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”
