3 Korean Travel Variety Shows To Satisfy Your Wanderlust

With the lockdown forcing us to stay at home, one of the biggest luxuries robbed from us this year is travel. With strict travel regulations imposed due to COVID, it’s hard to get anywhere around the country, and even around the world. The best we can do is live vicariously through others, and that’s exactly what Korea’s top travel variety shows have been giving us the last few months.
We’re so used to thinking of Seoul when we think of places to go to in South Korea, but the country actually boasts a plethora of scenic destinations and local delicacies. Here’s 3 recommendations that will awaken your wanderlust for adventures. Who knows? You might get some ideas for your to-do list on your next trip to South Korea!

3 Meals A Day: Fishing Village

The whole premise of 3 Meals A Day is to create three meals daily with the ingredients found around the area. The show has become one of the most beloved variety shows in South Korea, promoting a lifestyle of simple living in the province. Join actors Cha Seung-won, Yoo Hae-jin and Son Ho-jun on their hilarious adventure to feed themselves in a remote fishing village!
Fun fact: For this season, the production crew rented out the island to practice social distancing as this was shot during the height of COVID.

House on Wheels

Tiny house living or van life is quickly becoming a trend among millenials. House on Wheels cast Sung Dong-il, Kim Hee-won and Yeo Jin-goo invite their friends and co-stars to go camping with them as they travel around South Korea and try the regional delicacies at each stop.
Fun fact: This show created the first ever movable tiny house in South Korea.

Summer Vacation

Jung Yumi (The School Nurse Files) and Choi Woo Shik (Parasite) reunite for some quality ‘healing time’ as they enjoy a month-long summer vacation in Gangwon province. Together, they cook, learn new hobbies such as baking and surfing, and invite friends over for some fun and games.
Fun fact: Yumi and Woo Shik were co-stars in the widely-acclaimed movie Train to Busan.
