While it’s still uncertain when we can watch movies at the cinemas again, movie buffs still have a lot to look forward to this year. A lot of films originally slated for 2020 are finally being released. Some of them are going to be available on Netflix, while some are scheduled for cinematic release.

As we wait for IATF guidelines for movie theatre openings, there’s no reason why shouldn’t ride on the hype, and keep ourselves informed of the upcoming blockbusters that will be the talk of the town. Here are seven movies to watch out for in 2021.

1.To All The Boys: Always And Forever (February 12)

In 2018, the world fell in love with Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky. This February, we’ll finally get to watch the final chapter of their love story based on the novels of Jenny Han. As the couple head towards college and the ‘real world,’ will their love last? Stay tuned on Netflix to find out.

2. No Time To Die (April 2)

Most likely Daniel Craig’s last hurrah as agent 007, this is the 25th movie in the James Bond franchise. The movie follows Bond as he leaves the service, and enjoys a tranquil life in Jamaica. This newfound peace becomes short-lived, and he ends up on a mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist. Will the British spy survive this one? We’ll see. No Time To Die will be released this April in theatres worldwide.

3.A Quiet Place Part II (April 23)

The sequel to John Krasinski’s horror blockbuster, this flick follows the Abbott family as they stay silent, and evade the monsters that have all but wiped out the human race in a dystopian world. With a newborn baby in tow, how will they pull it off? The movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 23.

4.Black Widow (May 7)

After Avengers: Endgame (spoiler alert!), we thought we saw the last of Natasha Romanoff, but Scarlett Johansson is back in her first standalone movie. Set between the time of Civil War and Infinity War, the film follows Romanoff as she confronts her past long before she was a member of the Avengers. Black Widow is scheduled for the big screens on May 7.

5.Top Gun: Maverick (July 2)

Set 35 years after the original movie was released, the much-anticipated sequel to the iconic Tom Cruise flick follows Pete “Maverick” Mitchell as he faces his past while training a new squad of pilots in a life-threatening mission. Amazingly enough, Cruise has been a licensed pilot since 1994. Yes, Maverick knows how to fly in real life. Top Gun: Maverick is set to hit the theatres on July 2.

6.Jungle Cruise (July 30)

A story based on one of the iconic rides in Disney theme parks worldwide, this movie follows a small riverboat transporting a group of travelers through a supernatural jungle in the Amazon River. Starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt, this family-friendly flick is scheduled for theatrical release on July 30.

7.The Suicide Squad (August 6)

Director James Gunn’s first film in the DC Extended Universe, this film is a standalone sequel following Harley Quinn and her gang of supervillains as they are sent to the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy a Nazi-era prison and laboratory. The Suicide Squad will be available in theatres and HBO Max on August 6.

These are only some of the exhilarating new movies set for release this 2021. From action to adventure, romantic comedies to horror flicks, cinephiles will surely be treated to a lot of amazing stories this year.
