That’s right — after three decades since Naoko Takeuchi’s Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon was first serialized as a shoujo manga series, Usagi Tsukino returns to make her debut on the worldwide streaming service.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced the highly-anticipated premiere of the two-part Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal the Movie on its platform this coming June 3.

Directed by The Way of the Househusband’s Chiaki Kon, the upcoming anime movie premiered in Japan in January to much fanfare. It’s based on the Dream Arc storyline of the original manga series and serves as a direct continuation as well as a “fourth season” of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series.

The first part takes place during the cherry blossom season in April, right when Tokyo is set to celebrate the century’s biggest total solar eclipse. As the moon covers the sun, Usagi and Chibi-Usa meet Helios, a mysterious Pegasus who’s searching for a chosen Maiden to help him break the seal of the Golden Crystal. Meanwhile, a mysterious group called the Dead Moon Circus sets into motion an evil plan to release the nightmare incantation known as the Lemures, acquire the Legendary Silver Crystal, rule the Earth and Moon, and eventually the universe.

“It’s a dream come true for all of us at Netflix to have ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal The Movie’ join our expansive anime slate and to share this incredible story with fans around the world,” said Ema Hirayama, Netflix’s Content Acquisition Manager. “Like so many others around the world, I trace my love for anime back to watching ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’ when I was a toddler–pictures of me in Usagi’s Bun Head have become a family treasure. It’s no surprise that these characters and tales about love and justice still touch the hearts of so many fans around the world,”

The two-part anime film is the first in the franchise to hit Japanese theaters in the last 26 years, following the last one, 1995’s classic fantasy film Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie. First serialized in 1991 as Bishōjo Senshi SÄ“rā MÅ«n, the Sailor Moon manga was then adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation and aired on Japanese televisions from 1992 to 1997.
