It was meant to be a one-off cameo, but fans are now rallying for her to be a regular cast member.

In its latest episode on March 10, the American teen drama series Riverdale” featured a familiar face and even more familiar dancing skills: those of Filipino-Canadian dancer AC Bonifacio.

The seventh episode of the show’s fifth and latest season saw Bonifacio play the role of Star Vixen, one of the new members of the Vixen crew, which, after seven years, is now under Toni Topaz’s leadership. In the episode, Bonifacio got into a dance-off with the “Queen Bee” Cheryl Blossom (Madeleine Petsch). It was short and sweet, but it was feisty enough to turn heads towards Bonifacio’s moves.

Sharing how she landed the role, Bonifacio told ABS-CBN that, when she returned to Canada at the beginning of the pandemic, she auditioned for several roles, but it was Riverdale from whom she got a callback.

“I was sent the script and then they also sent requirements for [the] dance audition that they want. So I did an acting self-tape and one for dance,” the 18-year-old disclosed.

With regards to her brief appearance alongside Cheryl Blossom, Bonifacio recalled the experience as being “very fun” and Petsch being “very professional,” “nice”, and “very humble.”

News of her cameo on the show first came out in January when the show’s latest season premiered. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Riverdale’s creator, also posted a video of Bonifacio as a sweet teaser for everyone.

While this is her first time acting in an American series, this isn’t her first taste of fame on Western TV. Bonifacio has also appeared as a guest on Ellen in 2015 alongside fellow Filipino dancer Lucky Ancheta to show off their hip-hop dancing skills.
