If you’re a fan of survival thrillers such as Squid Game and Battle Royale, you may have heard of Netflix’s original series, Alice in Borderland. Its first season dropped worldwide last December 2020, and fans have been raving about the show ever since.

Well, it looks like you have to wait for a little over a year before you get to see the second season of the show. The Japanese thriller drama is slated to release its sophomore season in December 2022.

As per Bustle, this was confirmed at the recent Netflix Festival Japan 2021 event. Alice in Borderland stars Kento Yamazaki (Ryohei Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (Yuzuha Usagi) confirmed shooting for the second season is still ongoing.

“What is the purpose of this game? Will they be able to return to the real world? What is the answer Arisu is seeking? We hope to continue to work hard while shooting this series so that you can enjoy this show till the very end,” says Yamazaki in Japanese.

“I want to work hard so that we can relate to one another through entertainment,” adds Tsuchiya.

Season two of Alice in Borderland was given the green light just two weeks after the show was released on Netflix. At the time, fans expected the next chapter of the story to be dropped by the end of 2021. However, the project was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Awww…

The show became a hit across Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and of course, the Philippines.
