#Alive is the New Zombie Film You Need to Watch

2020 has been nothing short of apocalyptic. From Taal Volcano’s eruption at the beginning of the year to the coronavirus shutting down the world’s economy, it certainly feels like this year was straight out of an end-of-the-world type of movie. Having said that, the movie #Alive probably feels strangely familiar to the pandemic we’re facing – that is if COVID-19 was a zombie outbreak.

South Korea has created some of the best zombie movies we’ve seen in the past few years, with fans and critics raving about Train to Busan and Netflix’s Kingdom. It only seems right for people to be excited for #Alive.

Starring renown South Korean Yoo Ah In, #Alive’s plot revolves around Oh Joon-woo, a video game live streamer who struggles for survival as he is forced to stay alone at his apartment in Seoul and survive the zombie outbreak. Together with his mysterious neighbor Kim Yoo-bin (played by Park Shin-Hye), they go about trying to find away to stay alive and avoid being eaten by their zombie neighbors. #Alive is the action-packed zombie movie you definitely need to watch for your weekend movie night.

The movie was released on Netflix in early September. While it got mixed reviews in South Korea, #Alive instantly received critical acclaim overseas topping the Netflix daily chart in 35 countries, including the United States, France, Spain, Australia, and Canada.
