The secret is out: the lead star in the upcoming HBO Max series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” is none other than Bailee Madison!
The 21-year-old actress, known for her roles on “Parental Guidance,” “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and “Good Witch,” shared about her exciting new project on Instagram.
“Who’s ready? I may be a little liar, but this secret is one I can’t keep any longer,” she said. “Over the moon, beyond excited, and so grateful.”
Bailee will play the role of Imogen, a “final girl” described as a “true survivor.” Other confirmed cast members are Chandler Kinney and Maia Reficco.
The original “Pretty Little Liars” series, which aired from 2010 to 2017, focused on the lives of five friends: Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings, Emily Fields, and Alison DiLaurentis. But when Alison dies, the four remaining girls get tormented by someone called “A.”
Lucy Hale, who portrayed Aria in “Pretty Little Liars,” congratulated Bailee on getting the lead role in the series revival.
“I’m so proud of you Bailee! You deserve all amazing things in life and I support you always! Get ’em mama,” she said.
According to HBO Max, the reboot will be set in the same universe as the original series, which was loosely based on the books written by Sara Shepard.
“Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls—a brand-new set of Little Liars—find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago… as well as their own.”
