As much as everyone was smitten by the Duke and Duchess of Hastings, their chapter officially ended last season. Season 2 of the period drama wrapped filming over the weekend, and we can’t wait to witness the romantic tension between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma.
A Letter to the Dearest Readers
The first look at Season 2 was unveiled during Netflix’s TUDUM fan event in September. It’s been two months since, and creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen announced that filming is a wrap, with the show set to air in 2022. That might sound like a long way to go, but keep in mind we’re already nearing the end of 2021.
Buckle Up for Season 2
Dusen shared a photo of himself hugging the show’s new romantic stars, Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley. “That’s a wrap on Season Two!,” he tweeted. “So proud of this cast and crew who brought their A-games to work each and every day in this very challenging year. And these two in this photo with me right here. Words are not enough.”
Why production was delayed earlier this year
Season 2 began filming in May of this year, but production halted indefinitely in July after someone on set tested positive for COVID-19. The upcoming season is based on Julia Quinn’s novel, “The Viscount Who Loved Me.” It centers on Daphne Bridgerton’s older brother, Lord Anthony Bridgerton, and his pursuit of love. In early August, filming continued.
It seems like there’s a lot in store for fans of the Bridgerton series. While they have yet to announce a release date for Season 2, the Shondaland produced drama has already been renewed for a third and fourth season ahead of time. Plus, a spin-off sequel about Young Queen Charlotte is in the works.
