Dwayne Johnson Takes to Instagram to Celebrate Day One of Filming “Black Adam”

It’s official! After many delays in production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Adam has finally started filming!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who will be playing the titular character, seems to be as excited as DC fans about the movie finally gaining traction. In fact, he took to Instagram to celebrate the first day of filming.

He posted a picture of a clapperboard that they’re using for filming the movie and captioned it with “History in the making, extremely excited and what a humbling moment to share with you. Officially kicking off DAY 1 of filming our BLACK ADAM.”

Johnson also wrote, “We have an all star production crew – incredibly talented, galvanized, committed and focused to raise the bar and deliver something SPECIAL for the world. This one is an honor.”

It must be a relief for him and everyone involved to finally be filming after a year’s delay. Filming for Black Adam was initially supposed to begin in July 2020, and the release date was originally December 22, 2021 before it was postponed because of the pandemic.

While the delay is a bummer for fans, production has recently announced the new release date and in the most legendary way possible too: by showing it on every Times Square screen with Johnson’s booming voice-over.

Black Adam is now set to premiere on July 29, 2022.
