Potterheads, here’s some good news for you: the world will get to explore the wizarding world even further in 2022 as Fantastic Beasts has announced the latest installment of the franchise.
The Harry Potter spin-off series’ next movie will be entitled Fantastic Beasts and the Secrets of Dumbledore. It’s slated for worldwide release on April 15, 2022, so mark your calendars!
What should fans expect from the next Fantastic Beasts movie? Here’s the official logline to hype you up even further:
“Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches, and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?”
Directed by David Yates, who was also at the helm of four of the eight original Harry Potter films, the fantasy-adventure flick will feature most of the main cast members in the previous movies. These include Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, Ezra Miller as Credence (Aurelius Dumbledore), Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, and Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein.
Mads Mikkelson of Stars Wars: Rogue One fame is slated to step into the shoes of Gellert Grindelwald, as Johnny Depp has been controversially removed from the project.
Given that fans waited four long years for the next chapter of Fantastic Beasts (the last movie, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald was released in 2018), it will surely be a magical treat.Â
