After more than a decade since “Hannah Montana” ended, is there a possibility for the beloved Disney Channel series to come back?
Disney+ recently put up a “Hannah Montana: The Collection” banner on their website that says, “Celebrate the 15th Anniversary.” But it’s Hannah Montana’s online presence that’s really got fans wondering if she’s got something up her sleeve.
Hannah sparked reboot rumors after joining Twitter and becoming active on Instagram in time for the 15th anniversary of the show. Hannah’s IG has been up since 2019, but she just shared her first post in March. And it’s not just a fan playing with usâ –both her accounts have been verified!
She even left a comment on Billie Eilish‘s IG post featuring her freshly dyed blonde hair, saying, “I knew I was missing a wig.”

Miley Cyrus seems to have a change of heart about doing more “Hannah Montana” stuff–in 2017, she said that she’s not up for a reboot, but in 2020, she said that she would be bringing Hannah back “at some point.”
In a 2017 interview with “The Zach Sang Show,” she said she’s already had “enough dad time” after working for years alongside her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.
“It’s a lot of time to be spent with my dad. You know, my dad was my dad on the show… That was really hard every day from, like, [ages] 11 to 18,” Miley said.
She added that, unlike other kids, she didn’t have the “escape” of going to regular school. “I went to work with my dad. And then I started driving my dad toward the end when I could start driving. And then my grandma went with me every day. It was a lot of time with dad and grandma… I had to break free.”
Bringing Hannah back
Years after Miley expressed her hesitance for a reboot, things are looking up for fans! Hannah Montana (the character) joined Twitter before the show’s anniversary on March 24, 2021, and she’s finally posted something on IG, too. As of writing, Hannah has three Instagram posts, including a repost of Miley’s letter to her, a Rockstar ID photo, and handwritten notes to Corbin Bleu, Jake Ryan (Cody Linley in real life), and Mikayla Skeech (played by Selena Gomez).
In a 2020 interview with “Carolina With Greg T In The Morning,” Miley said that she “definitely would like to resurrect [Hannah] at some point.”
She also said that the wig is ready if ever the opportunity comes around, but Hannah might just need a makeover. “You know what honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time. She’s just in storage collecting dust and I’m ready to whip her out… She’s kinda stuck in 2008, so we’ll need to go shopping with Miss Montana.”
Miley also hopes to have the chance to direct the show if ever it happens. “Yeah, I’d love to do a series again. I think it would be hard for me to get locked into a soundstage for a couple years, but that’s sometime in the future and hopefully I’m directing it,” she said.
