Six episodes down, more to go!
The world has seen just half of the “Gossip Girl” reboot season one so far, but more episodes are already set to come now that HBO Max has given the green light for season two.
“You’ll want to keep your phone close, I won’t be gone for long. S1 continues this fall, with S2 to follow,” the official social media accounts of “Gossip Girl” posted.
The first six episodes of the teen drama series premiered on July 8, 2021, while the remaining six episodes of season one will premiere in November. The streaming platform said that the show, which had a record viewership of 555,000 viewers in U.S. households on its first four days, became “the best launch for a Max Original Drama series this year.”
The “Gossip Girl” reboot also received a lot of buzz online, garnering “15 billion total social impressions at launch” and “5.2 billion impressions from content inspired by the series on TikTok.”
Jordan Alexander, Whitney Peak, Tavi Gevinson, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zión Moreno, and Savannah Lee Smith star in the first season of the show. And just like in the original series, Kristen Bell narrates the reboot as “Gossip Girl.”
“On ‘Gossip Girl,’ the new show is really cool because it talks all about how social media has changed us, and it’s more risqué because it’s on HBO Max,” Kristen told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”
“I just like storytelling and I like being able to have the challenge of only using my voice. And you know, from V.O.s you’ve done, you really can go in your pajamas, and it’s great,” she added.
