Cementing its position as an expert in dystopian television series, Netflix is once again releasing another Korean drama called “All of Us Are Dead.” This zombie apocalypse-themed project is set to drop worldwide on January 28 exclusively on Netflix.

So what can you expect from the upcoming series? According to Netflix’s website, the story follows students who get trapped in their high school after the campus becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. The survivors must fight their way out, or else, they will turn into one of the rabid infected.

The show is written by Chun Sung-il and based on the webtoon Now at Our School by Joo Dong-geun. The series will be directed by Lee Jae Gyoo who is known for his work on “Trap”, “King2Hearts”, and “Intimate Strangers”. Netflix first announced the show in April 2020.

All of Us Are Dead is expected to have eight episodes, with about 42 minutes per episode. This means that you binge-watch the show for an entire day with no sweat. It remains unclear if the show is a limited series or a bigger project, like “Squid Game,” that exploded around the world. Given how K-dramas are extremely popular around the world, and how zombie movies and shows remain timeless, you shouldn’t count the show out.

“All of Us Are Dead” stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, Lomon, Yoo In-soo, Lee You-Mi, and Lim Jae-hyeok. If you’re a huge fan of Korean shows and movies, you might be familiar with a few faces. However, the show might be their ticket to global superstardom.

The zombie genre has proven to be a total moneymaker for the content streaming giant. It isn’t even the first Korean zombie project it has taken on. The series “Kingdom” has been so successful that Netflix is expanding the story even further with new seasons and a movie. The upcoming series marks the ninth original title under its portfolio.

Will “All of Us Are Dead” continue Netflix’s momentum of record-breaking Korean hits? We’ll have to wait and see until the show drops in late January. However, based on the trailer alone, it looks like the South Koreans really know what they’re doing when it comes to grim and scary projects. Given everything happening in the world, getting lost in a fictional zombie apocalypse might just be what we all need.
