Filipina Broadway icon Lea Salonga has joined the cast of the upcoming HBO Max series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” a reboot of the 2010 series “Pretty Little Liars.”
“The moms have descended upon the town of Millwood! And we have secrets and lies of our own (can’t let the children have all the fun),” Lea posted on Instagram. “So excited to be part of the cast of ‘Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin!’”
Lea will play the role of Elodie, the “overbearing” mother of Minnie. According to Deadline, her character “works overtime to keep her daughter safe following a trauma that occurred when Minnie was just a little girl.”
Minnie, the youngest among the new generation of “Little Liars,” will be portrayed by Malia Pyles. “Having survived a childhood trauma, Minnie spends most of her time in a virtual world, but she is more than capable of taking on the dark forces of Millwood – including ‘A.’”
The new “Pretty Little Liars” series will follow the lives of teenage girls who get tormented by “A,” an unknown “Assailant” who’s out to make them pay for their parents’ “secret sin.”
Other confirmed cast members include Chandler Kinney, Maia Reficco, Bailee Madison, Zaria, Alex Aiono, Mallory Bechtel, Eric Johnson, Sharon Leal, Elena Goode, Carly Pope, and Zakiya Young.
