By now, everyone’s seen The Queen’s Gambit, an unlikely Netflix hit that dives deep into the world of chess and all the life lessons that can come out of it.

While it seemed like leading actress Anya Taylor-Joy burst into the scene out of nowhere, she’s been very much present in TV and film in recent years. If you’ve found yourself wanting more of the brilliant actress, here’s where you can find her:

Atlantis (2015)

Taylor-Joy dipped her toes into television before film, playing a minor role in the British fantasy-adventure show Atlantis. Her character Cassandra, a prophet who eventually becomes an Oracle, only lasted five episodes. Though it seemed short, Taylor-Joy’s part in Atlantis helped her gain a bit more exposure.

The Witch (2015)

Landing a spot as one of our scarier, new-age horror films, The Witch was Taylor-Joy’s first chance to make a big impression in the film industry. Playing as Thomasin, the eldest daughter in a Puritan settler family plagued by evil forces, this newcomer showed critics what she was made of with her eerily convincing performance. Taylor-Joy’s efforts paid off, as she ended up winning the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor and the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer.

Split (2016)

Split, the second installment to the Unbreakable trilogy, showcased Taylor-Joy’s ability to thrill. The film was a dramatic look into the origins of a mentally ill supervillain, with the Queen’s Gambit actress acting as a teenage girl that was kidnapped by one of the villain’s 23 personalities. Wide-eyed and bold enough to lead a good portion of the film, Taylor-Joy definitely showed critics she was ready for bigger and deeper roles.

Peaky Blinders (2019)

Coming into Season 5 of the extremely popular Netflix crime show Peaky Blinders, Ms. Taylor-Joy packs a punch as Gina Grey, the American wife of Michael Grey. Her performance, as always, was spectacular; by this time, the seasoned actress already knew how to utilize her unique facial features and overwhelming mystique. Fans expect to see Gina Grey in future seasons of the series, so stay tuned!

Emma (2020)

Catch the talented actress in her most recent project, Emma. Here she plays Jane Austen’s Emma Woodhouse, a matchmaker of sorts amongst her peers in Regency-era England. It’s a visually stunning piece that was up for many awards, including two Oscars. And it’s also pretty funny.
