Marvel fandom, rejoice! After the great Marvel drought of 2020, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is delivering more spectacular movies for fans to enjoy. Marvel is shaking things up by delaying the theatrical releases of several upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

To be fair though, the schedule shakeup is due to production concerns and not box office numbers. Hence, Disney is opting to delay the release of its projects so their quality isn’t compromised.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, originally planned for March 2022, has now been moved to May 6, 2022. With this move, it takes the spot originally intended for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will now be released on July 8, 2022, which bumps down Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to Nov. 11, 2022.

Plus, the much-anticipated sequel to Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, The Marvels has been pushed back for a year and is now scheduled for a Feb. 17, 2023 release. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has also been delayed further and is now planned for July 28, 2023.

With these schedule delays, the only MCU project that’s on track for release is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which remains fixed in its release date of May 5, 2023. Additionally, two untitled Marvel movies originally scheduled for July 28 and Oct. 6, 2023, have been pulled from the calendar, while one has been rescheduled to Nov. 3, 2023.

If you want to get your Marvel fix soon, though, don’t fret. The MCU has two more movies planned this year, namely Eternals, which is premiering on November 5, and Sony’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, scheduled for December 17.

To sum things up, here’s Disney’s latest updated release date calendar for MCU films and series:

  • Eternals – Nov. 5, 2021
  • Hawkeye (Disney Plus series) – Nov. 24, 2021
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home – Dec. 17, 2021
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness -  May 6, 2022
  • Thor: Love and Thunder – July 8, 2022
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Nov. 11, 2022
  • Captain Marvel 2/The Marvels – Feb. 17, 2023Â
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – May 5, 2023
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – July 28, 2023
