Marvel looks back at its legacy in nostalgic video, teases all Phase 4 films

It’s been a remarkable decade if you’re a fan of superhero movies, and as the pandemic deprives us of that cinematic magic we’d gladly sit through in theaters, Marvel Studios swoops in to remind us that the journey is far from over.

In a new video that dropped on Monday, Marvel Studios teased a host of upcoming films that comprise Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with footage from the soonest ones to come.

Eternals, helmed by Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao featured the star-studded crew of celestial beings which includes Salma Hayek who’s seen riding a horse, Angelina Jolie brandishing a gilded sword, and a group shot presenting Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Gemma Chan, and Ma Dong-Seok. The film hits big screens on November 5.

The reel also showcased action shots previously teased in the trailers of Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which premieres on July 9 and September 3, respectively. Towards the end of the year, we’re also set to see the returning Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home which, if rumors are to be believed, will boast a stacked cast coming from Sony-made Spider-Man films. The third Spirder-Man film is slated for a December 17 release.

Zooming further into the future, Marvel also revealed the official title for the Black Panther sequel: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Recent reports divulged that director Ryan Coogler had “changed his idea” for the film in the wake of Boseman’s death last year, so it’s definitely intriguing how the Wakandan lore picks up post-T’Challa. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to premiere on July 8, 2022.

Speaking of sequels, the second Doctor Strange film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated for a spring release on March 22, 2022. The God of Thunder returns for the fourth time in Thor: Love and Thunderwhich hits screens on May 6, 2022. The fourth Ant-Man film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniagets set to debut on February 17, 2023, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 gears for a May 5, 2023 release. The Captain Marvel sequel also gets an official title with The Marvels, as well as an official release date of November 11, 2022.

Finally, a never-before-seen Fantastic Four logo catches viewers by surprise, though no dates for the reprised series were revealed in the clip.

Indeed, the next few years will give us another chance to, as Stan Lee says in the video, “get lost in the story” once again. See you at the movies, Marvel nerds!
