What started as a heist, ended as a family, and now we’re all part of it.

On Friday, May 14, Netflix revealed on social media that Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) has finished shooting its fifth and final season with a photo of the entire crew and cast striking one last pose. The ultimate season is scheduled to be released sometime in the second half of 2021.

“Thank you to all the fans for being part of La Resistencia! We can’t wait to show you how this story ends,” the streaming giant wrote.

Before the popular crime drama series concluded production, several cast members also shared their farewells on their social media pages. Ãšrsula Corberó, who plays Silene Oliveira or Tokyo in the series, wrote a heartfelt post on her Instagram thanking her fellow cast members and hoping that they “made the final season that fans deserve.”

Itziar Ituño, who fills the boots of Inspector Raquel Murillo or Lisbon, also took to her Instagram to express her sadness over the series’ ending with several translations of the word “goodbye” and exclaiming “what a trip” it was to join the show.

Last but certainly not the least, The Professor, played by Ãlvaro Morte, also bid his last farewell with a speechless video on Instagram. Though he doesn’t utter a word, his expression as he turns to look around the set one last time left his followers feeling bittersweet.

“Thankful for so much, for everything. To the fans (the first ones, of course), to the entire team of @vancouvermediaproducciones and @netflixes @netflix And to you, my dear Professor. I will miss having such a good time with you,” Morte wrote.

After moving to Netflix, “Money Heist” became the most-watched series on Netflix for six consecutive weeks and now stands as its most successful Spanish series ever and was its most popular non-English series until French thriller “Lupin” debuted on the platform back in December. For its suspenseful and adrenaline-filled story-telling, Money Heist has won several awards, including a Best Drama Series nod at the 2018 International Emmy Awards.
