No Time to Die, a Universal Pictures film, is Bond star Daniel Craig‘s last hurrah as the iconic British spy. It’s the only pandemic-era Hollywood flick to earn over $100 million without China, the world’s second-largest movie market.

In the U.K. and Ireland, where the Bond franchise is largely popular, the film made $30 million in ticket sales in its first four days of release, beating out its equally popular predecessors, Skyfall and Spectre, by $7 million. In just one weekend, No Time to Die became the biggest movie of 2021 in the U.K.

Universal’s president of international distribution, Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, stated that the achievement was a “huge team effort by all.” The studio is also releasing the movie internationally, with MGM distributing the film in North America. “The filmmakers delivered an outstanding film and we are very proud to play a part in this result with MGM and EON. Barbara Broccoli has been a huge supporter of the theatrical experience, and it’s very gratifying to see the film achieve such heights during the pandemic,” she said.

The film will get another chance to shake up the box office in 15 more international territories in the coming days, including France (Oct. 6), Russia (Oct. 7), and North America (Oct. 8).

Other big box office openings over the weekend included the highly-anticipated and critically-acclaimed Warner Bros. film Dune, which topped the $100 million mark at the international box office ahead of its Oct. 8 U.S. premiere, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which earned a worldwide total of $103.9 million.
