Not even news of impending cancellation can kill Cardo Dalisay.

In light of a report circulating on social media that “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” is set to end in April 2021, ABS-CBN has confirmed that “it is not true.”

This is according to Kane Errol Chua, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications.

Meanwhile, entertainment writer Ricky Lo also confirmed that the action-drama show that airs weeknights on the Kapamilya Channel has been extended until July this year, just two months shy of its 6th year of broadcast.

These statements were in response to a report from the Inquirer’s Lifestyle.INQ, which cites a source claiming that the final taping week is already scheduled and that cast members have already been made aware of the upcoming finale. The said report was re-shared by several news outfits on social media.

An insider source by PEP.ph refuted this, and told the entertainment news portal that production will, in fact, return to shoot another cycle of episodes that will be “good for more than a month.”

The latest report by Lifestyle.INQ released on Thursday conceded that the show’s remaining taped episodes may still be stretched beyond April. However, it maintained that the show is still set to “bow out this year.”

FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano premiered on September 28, 2015, and is currently on its eighth season. Its extensive run due to consistently positive ratings have made it the longest-running drama series on Philippine television, having aired more than 1,300 episodes.

It stars Coco Martin as Cardo Dalisay and boasts a star-studded cast involving Angel Aquino, John Arcilla, Sharmaine Buencamino, Bianca Manalo, Jaime Fabregas, Michael de Mesa, Joel Torre, and Lorna Tolentino. Yassi Pressman, Edu Manzano, Maja Salvador, Bela Padilla, Paulo Avelino, Pepe Herrera, Dawn Zulueta, Lito Lapid, and even the late Eddie Garcia have also graced the show in the past.

The death-defying persona of Coco’s character lends to the series’ unrelenting run. After cheating death dozens of times against ruthless rivals like Anton Guerrero (Victor Neri), Jonas Paulino (Jake Cuenca), Hector (Cesar Montano), and the evil Bungo (Baron Geisler), Cardo Dalisay still stands tall.
