Sorry, but the second “No Way Home” trailer still has no signs of other Spider-Men

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men seems to have gained a new power: invisibility.

After long, nail-biting hours waiting for the premiere of the fresh trailer, it’s finally here: Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home gave a more extended glimpse into the bursting multi-verse that will bring the MCU, the SSU (a.k.a. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe), and Sam Raimi’s OG Spider-verse in a collision course towards each other.

Story-wise, we already know what’s going down from the first trailer so here’s a quick recap: Tom Holland’s Peter Parker pleads to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange to erase the entire population’s memory of Mysterio revealing his secret identity to the world. As a consequence of such a tall task, Doctor Strange’s spell gets screwed up, tearing open both the multi-verse as well as our treasure trove of nostalgia from pre-MCU superhero flicks.

We’ve already confirmed the comeback of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx as Electro, and Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin, while rumors that Rhys Ifans and Thomas Haden Church will reprise their roles as Lizard and Sandman, respectively, seems spot on too. That’s a whole lot of bad guys ready to do battle, so where’s Holland’s great equalizers in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield?

Watch the fresh trailer below and see if you can “Scooby-Do” where the other Spider-Men are:

You can’t, right? Because they’re technically not in the trailer, but a strong, even deafening fan theory that’s surfaced since the trailer’s premiere is that they have been edited out to preserve their Spider-Men’s secrecy.

According to fans with impeccable Spidey senses, the two other web-slingers were edited out based on a version of a trailer released by Sony Pictures Brazil. Fans are saying that the version seems to run just a split-second longer, specifically in the part where Holland’s Spider-Man leaps towards the crew of Lizard, Sandman, and Electro in a construction yard, with the Lizard being seemingly struck in the face by an unseen force while lunging forward.

Fans were quick to back up the hypothesis, claiming that a three-on-three makes more sense anyway.

Whether it holds up or not, we’re just going to have to wait and see when Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters on December 15.
