There’s nothing like a good ol’ action flick to get the blood pumping, right? Since 2010, new fans and seasoned cinemaphiles alike have been treated to the star-studded ensemble movie franchise The Expendables.
Well, it looks like your favorite old action stars are back with another ensemble movie with even more star power. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate and Millennium Media will be working on The Expendables 4.
Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone have committed to reprising their roles in the next installment of the franchise. They will be joined by more household names as well. “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, and Tony Jaa are set to join The Expendables universe.
“It’s so much fun to bring these stars together for a no-holds-barred action film,” said Jason Constantine, president of acquisitions and co-productions for the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, in a statement. “The new film will raise the stakes and be the biggest, most badass adventure yet.”
“Popcorn entertainment is guaranteed,” said Millennium president Jeffrey Greenstein, noting that the new additions to the roll call were meant to “keep it fresh and fun.”
The Expendables movies star some of the biggest action stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins, Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, and Harrison Ford.
While The Expendables franchise has gotten mixed reviews from critics over the years, it cannot be denied that fans love these star-studded movies. Hence, the gang is returning yet again. The fourth Expendables film was first announced by Stallone in 2015, one year after the third film came out, but no major updates regarding production have been given until now. With production set to start this October, let’s hope the film gets released sooner than later.
