It’s once again that time of the year for those who love all things scary! While quarantine prevents us from going all-in on the Halloween festivities, such as parties, haunted houses, and other spooky attractions, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate at all. Binging your way through your Halloween must-watch list is still on the table.
Rewatching classic Halloween shows and movies is all part of the stay-at-home fun this October. However, throwing a few new additions into your lineup will definitely help keep things more exciting. Here are some of the latest and upcoming films and series you can stream on Netflix for Halloween:
#Alive
Can’t resist the usual zombie film if it’s done well? This South Korean flick that recently premiered globally on Netflix early in September is exactly that. The movie follows the protagonist, a streamer, who is forced to stay in his apartment by himself during a zombie apocalypse.
Ratched
Ratched has been the latest series everyone has been watching these past two weeks. The show is about the origin story of Ratched, the abusive and manipulative asylum nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It’s great for those who love campy – but still creepy – psychological horror stories.
The Devil All the Time
This psychological thriller packed with huge Hollywood names – from Robert Pattinson to Tom Holland – is the latest film to unpack the spine-chilling horrors one can find in a rural town. It explores the wicked interplay of religion, abuse of power, and evil in a small Southern community in the 1940s.
The Haunting of Bly Manor
Two years ago, The Haunting of Hill House stole the Halloween spotlight when it premiered. So, it’s not a shock that everyone’s excited for the follow-up that explores a new story – based on Henry James’ Turn of the Screw – with the same creepy but emotional tone audiences loved from season one. The Haunting of Bly Manor premieres on October 9.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen
Love gore and stories about the occult but would rather laugh than get so scared you can’t sleep? This horror-comedy is the way to go. This is the sequel to The Babysitter and promises the same level of camp, delivering ridiculousness and humor in this story about human sacrifices and devil worship.
Vampires vs. the Bronx
This is another horror-comedy for those who don’t like taking their monster flicks too seriously. It puts a spin on the usual “vampires infiltrating the community” trope not just by making it funny, but also by using it as a way to explore the social problems the characters are facing, such as racism and gentrification. This film premieres on October 2.
