This is not a drill: Marvel’s multiverse is finally upon us!

Our collective Spidey senses are tingling, because the highly-anticipated trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially dropped! Yep, “officially,” because we’re not counting Sunday night’s leak on social media that Sony had to swiftly block.

Fortunately, the fans’ surprise were preserved because the trailer had tons of stuff to leave our jaws dropped. After months of guesswork, Marvel has finally bared the multiverse “about which,” according to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, “we know frighteningly little.”

In a nutshell, the events of No Way Home pick up directly from the mid-credits scene of 2019’s Far From Home. After the true identity of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker was exposed to the entire world, the web-slinger now seeks the Sorcerer Supreme’s wizardry to wind back time so that no one ever has to know the real person behind the mask.

But surprise! The potent magic plunges the two Avengers into time-space-breaking multiverse and brings Peter Parker face-to-face with some familiar foes in the history of Spider-Man — franchise nothwithstanding.

Watch the potentially spoiler-packed teaser trailer below:

Starting off with the most glaring one is Doctor Octopus, reprised from Sony’s second Spider-Man film from 2004 by Alfred Molina. With a grin, he greets the superhero: “Hello, Peter.” In a literal split-second that showed a flash of thunder and a green explosive device, the trailer also teased previously confirmed villains Electro, played by Jamie Foxx in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man’s first nemesis in the movies, Green Goblin, brought to life by its original actor, Willem Dafoe, in 2002’s Spider-Man.

Eagle-eyed fans also caught a glimpse of both a sandstorm and a humanoid lizard in a blink-and-you-miss-it action shot, which teases the vengeful return of the villains Sandman from Spider-Man 3 and The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man. Do we smell a Sinister Six reunion on the horizon?

Spider-Man swings back to theaters in December 17.
