Troy did say that it wasn’t goodbye, right?
Vanessa Hudgens, 33, is an actress, dancer, and singer. Her recent work includes films like The Princess Switch. But she’s best known for her role as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise.
On June 25, the Fil-Am artist made her followers feel nostalgic with an Instagram Reels post. In her reel, Hudgens is roaming the grounds of Salt Lake City East High School in Utah. The music playing in the background of her video is “Breaking Free.” It’s one of the most iconic songs from the HSM franchise. Hudgens sang it with Zac Efron at the climax of the first movie.
A week after its release on June 8, 2006, “Breaking Free” jumped from No. 86 to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. At the time, it set the record for the largest jump in the chart’s history. It also went to No. 1 on the Digital Songs Chart. The song went on to earn Gold and Platinum certifications from the RIAA.
For those who didn’t know, the caption of Hudgens’ post is a tribute to one of her iconic lines in High School Musical. Her character Gabriella said those words to her love interest, Troy Bolton.
Will Vanessa Hudgens reunite with the ‘HSM’ OGs?
Efron admitted that he’s open to returning for a fourth installment. “Having the opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing,” he said in a recent interview.
This Vanessa Hudgens post has gained over 14 million views, consequently taking every Wildcat fan on a trip down memory lane. Given the HSM stars’ willingness to reprise their roles, fans have more reason to long for a fourth movie. Yes, there’s a High School Musical series on Disney Plus, but it would be great to get the OG cast back together.
