Victoria Pedretti Reveals She Originally Auditioned For Beck On ‘You’

In the first season of “You,” we saw Penn Badgley and Elizabeth Lail bring to life–and death–the story of Joe Goldberg and Guinevere Beck. This was followed by seasons two and three, where we witnessed Joe move on and find his match in Love Quinn, a character played by Victoria Pedretti.

However, it turns out that someone else moved on from Beck to Love even before Joe Goldberg did.

Victoria, who first auditioned for “You” when she was still a senior in college, revealed that she originally tried for the role of Beck, Joe’s love interest in season one.

“I auditioned for Beck during my first time in LA while I was showcasing with my university. I got pretty far in the audition process. It was the furthest I had ever gotten in an audition process,” Victoria said in an interview with Byrdie.

“But I didn’t really think about it after that. Then, the show came out on Lifetime. I heard some buzz from people who enjoyed the show.”

Now officially a “Scream Queen,” Victoria landed one of the main roles in a different Netflix show: the 2018 horror series “The Haunting of Hillhouse.” Her stellar performance in the series then caught the attention of “You” creators Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, and led to her getting another chance to be on the show.

“I haven’t even talked to them about whether or not they remember me auditioning for Beck, to be honest. But we started having conversations about the show. I was able to meet with Penn Badgley, and the rest is history,” she said.
