We’re Not Done With Carrie Bradshaw Yet: HBO Max Just Confirmed a ‘Sex and the City’ Revival

The television industry is never afraid to play the nostalgia card when it comes to pitching new shows. That’s why we’ve been getting tons of reboots and adaptations these past few years. And another franchise that we’ll get to revisit is an iconic one that brings us back to the world of Carrie Bradshaw.

It has been confirmed that, in addition to HBO Max’s upcoming slate that includes the return of the Gossip Girl and True Blood franchises, the streaming platform will be releasing a Sex and the City revival. However, while the other two shows will be reboots of the original material, the Sex and the City series will be a continuation of Carrie and her friends’ story.

The revival is titled And Just Like That… and Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will be returning to resume their iconic roles, Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York. The three actresses will also be acting as executive producers. The original gang isn’t totally complete, though, since Kim Catrall will not be returning to play Samantha Jones.

Rumors of this revival have been circulating for a while now, but it was only when Parker, Nixon, and Davis posted a teaser on their Instagram accounts that it was finally confirmed.

The teaser includes shots of New York City where the original series was set and was accompanied by Parker’s trademark Carrie Bradshaw voiceover. The caption of Parker’s post reads, “I couldn’t help but wonder…where are they now? X, SJ.”

And Just Like That…will consist of 10 episodes in which the girls’ adventures in love and friendship during their 50s will be explored. There isn’t a set premiere date yet, but the production for the series will begin in mid-2021.
